Olympia Against Our Communities: A List

Centralizing power in Olympia is good for the politicians and good for the large organizations that support them, but it has been very bad for our local community.

  • Olympia has increased our taxes 84% in the last ten year while delivery fewer and fewer services.
  • Olympia has slashed state portion of financial support for our communities in half.
  • Olympia has taken control of our schools away from our local parents, teachers, and principals.
  • Olympia has imposed growth management, creating high-density monstrosities, culminating in Point Wells.
  • Olympia has  removed traffic congestion relief from the priorities of the DOT, lengthening our commute.
  • Olympia has  tolled the 520 bridge, which will drive traffic around the lake through our north-end neighborhoods.

My wife, Rebecca, and I have lived in the same house in Shoreline since we were married over 25 years ago.
